Oracle Linux: Server Got Shutdown With "systemd-logind: Power key pressed" Message

Applies to:

Linux OS - Version Oracle Linux 7.0 and later

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Version N/A and later

Linux x86-64

 

Symptoms:

Server got shutdown with the below messages.

/var/log/messages:

 Mar 29 21:02:15 <hostname> systemd-logind: Power key pressed.
 Mar 29 21:02:15 <hostname> systemd-logind: Powering Off...
 Mar 29 21:02:15 <hostname> systemd-logind: System is powering down.

 

Cause:

This happens when someone initiated a shutdown by a graceful shutdown from OCI UI or else by pressing a poweroff button on the hardware.

 

Solution:

Check with the hardware support/vendor to know if such shutdowns are initiated manually or not.
