UDT vs Org Tree

Hello Experts - Are there any disadvantages of using a UDT?

There is a requirement from a client to create 3 new fields which will be used with Department. Instead of just creating 3 DFFs, we suggested they can either create Org Tree or UDT. I wanted to check if there are any disadvantages of using an UDT over an Org Tree.
