How can I make grade a required field on the 'Create position' page?

How can I make grade a required field on the 'Create position' page? We just noticed that if a manager just types in the job 'RN' and doesn't select one in the drop-down then the grade doesn't default and you are still able to submit. We want to ensure that it is required.
