How is data from hz_geographies mapped to per_addresses for countries other than the US

I am working on a Peoplesoft to Oracle HCM Cloud implementation for a multi-national company with employees in multiple different nations. Due to this, the geography heirarchy and structures are different that the United States and will be represented differently in the hz_geographies table. Typically for US addresses, STATE from hz_geographies (from what i can tell it typically lives in Geography_element2, but i understand this can change depending on what country is in geography_element1) gets mapped to Region_2 in per_addresses, which is what gets displayed on their person profiles in the front end. How is this mapping between state (geography_element2)
