Contact Relationship error while changing employee hire date

Error while trying to change the hire date prior to existing hire date and contacts exists as of hire date

We are trying to change the hire date and encountering the below error:

The record of type Related person(in Person Contact Relationship) doesn't exist as of the date provided

Navigation followed: My Client Groups > Change Employment Start Dates > Search for person number and select

> Select the new start date which is prior to existing hire date.

Example:

Person Number: ABCD1234

Hire Date: 09-Sep-2022

New Hire Date: 06-Sep-2022

Couple of contacts do exist with the relationship start date as same as hire date.
