e-signature on contracts in China and Japan

Summary

Are e-contracts and e-signatures legal in China and Japan?

Content

We have offices in China, HK, Japan, Taiwan and Singapore although only reasonably big numbers in China and Japan.

I have been told by my colleagues in Japan that they have to have a paper contract as only this is legally binding.  Can anyone confirm if this is still the case?

In China, I have been told they have to have a paper contract with the company chop on this as the offer is required by government when applying for proof of residency.

Does anyone have experience of using e-contracts in China and Japan and if so what do you do?    Do you get the e-signature and then print this off and send to the employee????

Howdy, Stranger!
