Can the candidate search functions including searching in PDF resume?

In the candidate search function in current release (23B), it is mentioned that the keyword search function include the searching of candidate resume text (while the footer information will be excluded). Is this keyword search function only available to the the specific file formats (e.g. word, pdf, jpeg) only or this could apply to all file formats?
