Is it possible to have a mandatory pre-assessment scored and even if it's failed mark as complete?

We need a scored pre-assessment without blocking completion of training.

Content (required):

We have a requirement to deliver a pre-assessment before training is completed. This pre-assessment must be scored to measure the learner's understanding if the topic before training. The training is followed by another assessment to determine the change in understanding. We need that the pre-assessment is a required activity but (from what we can tell) if this is failed, mastery score not achieved, then the activity is is not complete and the course is then incomplete.

Is there any way that the assessment can be scored, the learner can see their pass or fail but it is sill marked as complete?
