OCI: Instance Gets Hung Every 24 Hours As DHCP Lease Does Not Get Renewed

Applies To:

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

Linux x86-64

Symptoms:

OCI Linux instance regularly becomes inaccessible every 24 hours. Inside the OCI UI/Console, at the Instance details page, it can report:

This instance is unresponsive. Confirm that the OS and network are configured correctly

This problem affects pings and SSH logins such that the instance no longer responds.

For recovery, the instance has to be rebooted. After bootup, it becomes accessible again, but the same problem reappears after 24 hours.

Changes:

None

Cause:

This file /etc/sysconfig/network does not exist. In this case, it was moved to become a different file.

Howdy, Stranger!
