Cannot Install Packages with Yum - “[Errno 14] curl#56 - "Callback aborted" - Trying other mirror.

Symptoms

System is hosted in Frankfurt region and not able to install packages from yum:

 [opc@hostname~]$ sudo yum install <package-name>

https://yum-iad.oracle.com/repo/OracleLinux/OL7/UEKR5/x86_64/repodata/repomd.xml:
[Errno 14] curl#56 - "Callback aborted"
 Trying other mirror.

Cause

The system yum repositories are configured for the Ashburn region, not the Frankfurt region (yum-iad.oracle.com instead of yum-fra.oracle.com).

 

Solution

Go into /etc/yum.repos.d/ directory in the instance, and edit all the files there to change the repository URLs from
