Positions showing incorrect occupancy details

Hi there, has anyone come across a situation where a position is showing an incumbent currently occupying the position in Manage Positions screen however when you look at the employee's profile employment assignment screen and assignment history does not reflect the same position number?

If so, what has been the workaround to fix this?
