How to allow wildcard searches in textbox fields?

Hi,

Within our accounts payable screen, when a user wants to search on a 'supplier' (for example), if they do not enter the exact value (case sensitive and spelling) the search will return nothing. They will then need to go to the 'Advanced' search to use one of the pre-configured search values (eg. equals, contains, between, etc) to return results.

Is the inability for the user to enter wildcard characters in the search textbox a cloud configuration issue? I find it hard to believe the system would not allow for wildcard use, or at least have IntelliSense for search boxes.
