How to send Notification to Alternate Manager using empManagerList function

We are trying to send the notification to employee's alternate manager (manager type ALTERNATE_MANAGER) through alert composer. However when we us below function it is throwing error:

${AlertUtils.toString(AlertUtils.empManagerList(ALTERNATE_MANAGER',workers.workRelationships.assignments.AssignmentId).UserName)}

Any other way to manage this?
