Should workflow initiators get FYI on Approve/Reject

Summary:

We expected that the initiator of a workflow enabled transaction would get an FYI indicating (at least) when the workflow is finally approved or rejected. Ideally we would like an FYI when the workflow progresses from one approver to the next.

Is it expected that there is no notification to the initiator? If it can be enabled, please advise how.

We have not intentionally disabled anything.
