how to mock supplier portal view as read only for buying org employee during prod support

Summary: after go-live of supplier portal implementation, during production support, if some issue occurs in supplier portal and if buying organization employee want to view the purchase orders in read only mode, how to achieve this?

If custom read only role is assigned to the buying organization employee, the employee is able to click on the hyper link 'Manage Orders' in supplier portal. But not able to query the purchase orders.

Is it mandatory to create dummy supplier contact so that buying org employee can view the purchase orders in supplier portal?
