OCIFS Mountpoint not Getting Mounted after Forced Reboot or Crash

edited Jan 18, 2024 4:28PM in Linux

Applies to

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

Linux x86-64

Symptoms

When trying to mount an Object Storage bucket using the OCIFS fuse module, the operation produces an error message and the filesystem is not mounted:

$ sudo mount -t fuse.ocifs my-bucket /mnt/
Cache directory /root/.ocifs/my-bucket/cache is not empty

$ df -TPh /mnt/
Filesystem                Type Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/ocivolume-root xfs   36G  11G  26G 29% /

Cause

If the OCIFS fuse module crashes or is terminated abnormally (such as during an unexpected system reboot), the cache will not be cleared and, unless the cache-reuse option is used, OCIFS will not be mountable.

Howdy, Stranger!
