Progress Payment Schedules for Complex Purchase Orders

There was a new functionality introduced in Oracle Fusion in 21C.
CREATE PURCHASE ORDERS FOR COMPLEX SERVICES WITH PROGRESS PAYMENT SCHEDULES
I am trying to understand the use cases where using this functionality will be helpful. As I understand, I can use this functionality to allocate estimated costs to various portions of work. However, I can achieve this same functionality by creating two lines with separate schedules. What advantage do I get when I use this feature for my orders?
