Shouldn't the Accounting Date default to the latest open period when System Date is the date basis?

Fusion Payables: Shouldn't the Accounting Date default to the latest open period if you use System Date as the Invoice Accounting Basis? So if I enter an invoice today with Dec-23 as the open AP Period and Jan-24 Future Enterable, shouldn't the accounting date default to 12/31/23?

We see that in GL, the GL Period defaults to the latest open period on a journal entry. If I use System Date as the Accounting Date Basis in AP, the accounting date defaults to the Future Enterable Period and Not the Latest Open Period.
