Pick release rule Modifications and its impact

Client has a requirement to change Shipping priority values as they want the order allocation based on shipping priorities.

As of today existing pick release rules have shipping priority values populated as one of the criteria, since we are going to change the sequencing/picking logic based on shipping priorities, we are modifying the shipping values and again pass them on pick release rules. Also, we have pick wave ESS scheduled already.

Question: Once new values are created and passed on to pick release rules, does this change automatically reflects on the scheduled pick waves?

Or

Should new pick releases be created separately to honor the new changes on pick release rules.
