On Amendment of a Customer contract can I have a new contract number instead of new version?

Hi Team,

When I try to amend a contract, it creates a new version with same contract number example: 658282 after amending the new contract shows as 658282 Version 1/2.

Instead of this, is there a possibility to have a new contract number and add the old contract as a related contract?
