Sales order cancelled but reservation is not cancelled

Use case:

  • When sales order is booked, it makes reservation as a standard process.
  • When the sales order is cancelled, it does not automatically cancel reservations at certain times which causes Item On-hand issues for Available to Promise Quantities.
  • Oracle SR suggested to run 'Purge Excess Inventory Reservations Process' to clear these reservations.

Issue:

  • How the business will know that there are transactions/reservations that are stuck in this process?
  • Oracle did not recommend to schedule the job 'Purge Excess Inventory Reservations Process'.
  • Users cannot manually keep track and identify this issue on regular basis.
  • Hence, please share any suggestions how this could be monitored and cleared.
