Can a high volume of POs created in Generate Orders Scheduled Job cause Performance Issues

My client would like to schedule the Generate Orders process to run every hour instead of using immediate PO creation. On a high volume day, they could have up to 7,000 POs getting generated in one batch job. Can anyone confirm if they have seen this volume size in a single generate orders process and if it could cause system performance issues?
