Best Practice to Update Recruting Content Library

Hi All,
Looks like for some of the contents only one content item with an active version is allowed for example "Job Offer Extended Notification".

I would like to understand the best practice we are following.

  1. Are we directly updating delivered content type and creating a newer version?
  2. Or, we simply inactive delivered content type and create our own with same category?
