absence balances are lost when return from LOA/Suspension

When a person goes on leave (disability, paternal etc.) we put the person on LOA/Suspension status.
The employee can use PTO absence balance (sick and vacation) to be paid while on leave.

When they want to return , we put them on Return from LOA/Suspension status. But upon this return, all the absence balances are removed.

Can someone offer a suggestion of what is causing this loss of balances?
