Use case 1 :

Let say we have 2 items,  Item A = Milk_5_Gallon and Item B = Milk_1_Gallon defined in oracle fusion via PIM.

Here Item B (Milk_1_Gallon) is defined as substitute for Item A(Milk_5_Gallon) in oracle PIM via substitute relationship

Now sales order gets created for Item A( Milk_5_Gallon ) , Quantity = 1 . Now when Item A is not available in inventory then Global order promising automatically substitute/replace Item A with Item B during fulfillment process . Here Oracle OM is substituting 5 Gallon item with 1 Gallon item during fulfillment, but ordered quantity is not changed , user is also not able to change the quantity. Ideally quantity needs to be changed to 5.
