Is there a way to prevent candidates from seeing the status of their job application?

Our recruiting team has asked whether there is a way that the job application status can be hidden by the candidate. Our rejection letters are not automatic (a member of the recruiting team reaches out directly to candidates), and we don't want them to see their "Rejected" status before we've had an opportunity to communicate with them. Is there a way to keep them from seeing this information? I found this post, but it relies on custom CSS in Page Composer, and I'm concerned about what will happen when we move to Redwood.
