Do we need to enable Global Search in order to enable Oracle Search?

Summary:

We are planning on activating Redwood pages and we know that one of the prerequisites is to enable Oracle Search. However, we want to confirm that there is no need to enable Global Search in order to enable Oracle Search, since our client doesn't want to use the Global Search bar due to a number of page customizations restricting access to different Core HR actions (like: promote, transfer, global transfer, etc), that become available when activating Global Search bar.
