Enabling the OSMH Plugin Throws Error "start plugin: Request rejected by Safeguard"   

Applies to: 

OS Management Hub (OSMH) - Version N/A and later 
Linux x86-64 

Symptoms 

Starting the OSMH plugin will show the below errors. 

failed to start plugin:[oci-osmh]err: Failed to start plugin: Request rejected by Safeguard Please ensure all prerequisites for this plugin are met. 

 

Cause 

In this case, a third party package VAS (SUDO Plugin) package is causing the issue. 

# rpm -qa | grep -i vas 
vasgp-5.1.1-4200.x86_64 
vasclnt-5.1.1-4200.x86_64 

Solution 

  • Disable the SUDO Plugin and remove the third party rpm vas* by engaging the vendor. 
  • Perform the following on the OCI instance to re-enable the OSMH plugin.
