Do we need SSL certificate to configure Vanity URL for career site?

We are implementing Vanity URL for external career site in ORC. While creating a sub domain URL, a CNAME will be created for SaaS instance. If the endpoint’s web browser will limit to resolve that FQDN into an IPv4, and the SSL connection will then be established directly with the Oracle Fusion SaaS platform, then do we need the SSL certificate for the sub domain.

please let me know if SSL certificate from sub domain is required to configure Vanity URL.
