Is there a way of having item structure revision control separate than the item revision?

Summary:

My client wants to be able to maintain the revision of a BOM from their external engineering system. This revision number is different than the revision revision of the item itself as the item was created in a separate ERP system that is now coming into Product Hub. Is it possible to keep doing this in Oracle Product Hub or will the client have to choose the version they will bring over to PDH for the item, since it appears revision is at item level and not at structure level.
