What are the best practices/Oracle Recommandations in Appearence?

Hi Community,

We have been checking a bit the Sandbox>Appearance tool.

We have seen it's possible to use predefined themes or to create your own.

2 questions rise from this investigation:

1- Is it a best practice/Oracle Recommandation to use the Redwood theme? Would it be ok to use others/to create ours?

2- When testing our own theme we see we can Default the Home Page Layout. We have encountered some documentation, mentioning that since RUI was launched the News feed option was the most suitable. Is this still the case? Is anyone not using the News feed?
