Can we exclude one business unit from organization hierarchy?

I have to create organization hierarchy but don't what to include one business unit in hierarchy, but I am not sure whether this will affect the functionalities of that Business Unit in HCM Oracle Fusion or not? Please let me know what challenges I will face by excluding that one business unit from hierarchy?
