How can I add Multiple Contract to an employee

We are using Multiple contract - Single assignment Employment Model in our system but still we are unable to add Multiple Contracts to an employee.
The contract end date is provided in screenshot 1, we can see the Add button; but, in screenshot 2, the contract is live and we are unable to add another contract.
Please assist further.
