How do I update the seniority date in Connections

In a Test lane I have tried to manually update seniority dates and then ran the process to Recalculate the Seniority Dates in an attempt to have the Tenure on the Connections page for an employee update - without success. Where does the Tenure Date pull from that is on the Connections page? Can we change which seniority date is used on the Connections page and if not, how can I update the correct seniority date so that the change can reflect in Connections?
