Sending Learning Alert Notifications within 45 days from due date

We want to send alerts via alert composer for overdue assignments but only within 45 days from due date. There shouldn't be any alerts after 45 days. Does anybody tried this before? Was gonna try ${assignmentDueDate} <= sysdate-45 but a bit skeptical. Any feedback is appreciated!
