SELinux Permission Denied Error When Writing Logs to Custom Directory

SYMPTOMS:
The rsyslog service is failing to write logs to a custom directory (e.g: /u01/rsyslog-logs) after changing the log file path from the default /var/log/ to the external disk.
syslog rsyslogd[9389]: error during config processing: omfile: creating parent directories for file '/u01/rsyslog-logs/****’ failed: Permission denied
syslog rsyslogd[9389]: error during config processing: Could not open dynamic file '/u01/rsyslog-logs/****’ [state -3000] - discarding message
syslog rsyslogd[9389]: error during config processing: omfile: creating parent directories for file '/u01/rsyslog-logs/****’ failed: Permission denied [v8.21>
