Adding a block of text on candidate's application

I am trying to add a block of text on candidate's application using Extensible Flexfield, as advised by Oracle, but cannot make it a simple text field.

I've created Extensible Flex field under "Person EIT Information", as advised by Oracle, but cannot make it a simple text field.
I was able to add in Job Application Flow Configuration via Extra Information block with the created Extensible Flexfield, but on the candidate's application it is showing up a box and a Prompt (it is a required field in Extensible Flexfield). Please see the screenshots attached and advise if there is a way to fix this or another way to add text. Thank you!
