what is the use of end date of additional person info

Hello,

We have an additional person info of behaviour multiple row,
when creating an additional person info for a user I queried the information from the table PER_PEOPLE_EXTRA_INFO_F. i can see from the table that there is an attribute EFFECTIVE_END_DATE. This attribute cannot be used/seen on the screen.(if anyone know how to enable it, id be grateful to know).

All record when created have its EFFECTIVE_END_DATE defaulted to 31/12/4712.

I tried to update the record but the EFFECTIVE_END_DATE did not change but the information within did get updated along with its object version,
