Position ID Field in Redwood Promote Transaction

Hello,
Seeking clarification on the expected behavior in the Redwood Promote transaction.
When promoting an employee from a job with a position into a job that doesn’t require one, we’ve found that we must manually remove the Position value under the When and Why section. If we don’t, the Grade list on the Assignment page does not populate correctly for the new job.
In the Responsive UI, the position can be updated or cleared directly in the Assignment section. In Redwood, the Position ID is located under the When and Why section, which can be confusing. Although a position field appears under Assignments, it’s not editable. I’ve tried using business rules to make it editable, but haven’t been able to do so.
