Possible to Change Announcement Location on Newsfeed Layout Theme?

Hello-

Since we are being required to use the newsfeed layout with the upcoming 25B upgrade, we have made the layout change to our homepage to test visibility and have discovered that the announcements no longer display in the sidebar of the homepage and now appear as a link to the information.

We need to know if it is possible to have our announcement display as the full announcement text at the top of the page without a photo like you could in the old layout? The users do not want to have to perform an extra click to see the announcement and we find it unappealing not to have the information in the announcement readily displayed at the top of the page.
