Advanced search does not work if value set used in flexfield is table validated

Summary:

When searching for transactions (manage invoices) we see that the search result does not filter based on values in a flexfield segment if the value set assigned to the flexfield segment is table validated.

I'm looking for instructions / inspiration on how others have managed to overcome this issue.
