Is it possible to determine if a workflow notification is an FYI or Request for Approval?

We are exploring options to add additional text to an FYI notification to line managers to provide more guidance on what they need to do. We would therefore like to have a condition to check if the notification is an FYI or Approval Request. Is it possible to determine this from one of the fields available in the data model or by calling a function?
