What is considered when determining what kind of work order variance used for a work order?

Summary:

What are the rules that determine whether a work order variance is a Batch size variance, Component substitution variance, Efficiency variance, Material rate variance, Resource rate variance, Resources substitution variance, Usage variance, or Yield Variance?

I didn't include Job close variance because I understand that it is a catch all for any variances that don't fit into the previous list of variances.

I'm trying to understand what is used to determine whether a variance is a rate, substitution or usage variance.

Thanks,

Joe
