Issue with Quote Having Product Linked to Inactive Pricebook Entry

Summary:

We’re trying to determine if there is a way to handle the following scenario:

  • A product was added to a quote while its pricebook entry was active.
  • The pricebook entry was later deactivated.
  • As the quote is marked as active, it throws the following error when syncing back to the opportunity:

The partner site could not be updated. The following errors were returned:
Field integrity exception: PricebookEntryId (pricebook entry is inactive)

 We’d like to understand if there is a recommended way to handle this scenario without having to remove the product from the quote (specifically in cases where orders have already been placed for that product).
