Why does the view change with this privilege?

Summary:

The Manage Receipt for Advanced Receiver with the Responsive Self Service Application privilege changes the view when enabled. We want this role for some users, but not all. Why does this change the view? We would like to have the view the same for all users, and our business team prefers the display on the left-hand side. I have tried messing with different profile values when the role is enabled, but it does not turn the layout back to the 'tile' view on the left. Is this expected, or is there something I am missing? Thank you!
