The final four: 2026 Nacha rule changes

Earlier, we announced that Nacha approved 15 rules to help decrease fraud and enhance recovery. Eleven rules have been effective since April 2025, and the last four will roll out in 2026— here's how to get ready.

Changes coming in 2026

Nacha is introducing a new term—False Pretenses [service.jpmorgan.com]—in two of these new rules, which is defined as:

The inducement of a payment by a Person misrepresenting (a) that Person's identity, (b) that Person's association with or authority to act on behalf of another Person, or (c) the ownership of an account to be credited.
