Make First Name Required in Hire an Employee without affecting other pages using "First Name"

We are struggling with the following:
How to make the field "First Name" required in the "Hire an Employee" redwood page using VBS without using the "Name Styles" page ?
VBS currently does not support customization for first name, last name or title in Hire an Employee. The customization must be done in "Name Styles" page which affect all pages that uses the "First Name" fields.
Thus, in Benefits when creating a dependent we are forced to fill in details like the "Title" field which is important in the Hire an Employee process flow but not so much for the Benefits process flow.
