Dynamic Filter in Dashboard

I have a Range Slider filter used to select the months of the year. Currently, the Dashboard loads all records, and only after that can I use the slider to select the range. I need the Dashboard to load directly with the current month, and, if necessary, manually extend the range of months. Could someone help me achieve this result?
