Is it possible to reassign a batch using itemBatches REST API?

Summary:

To purge item batch data using ItemBatchMaintenanceService service (purgeBatchData operation) the user who call the service must be the assigner. To reassign the batch, we are trying to do it via itemBatches REST API, but we are getting always the same error regarding an invalid value of AssignedTo. Is there any way to reassign an item batch via service or REST API? If so, I would appreciate any sample payload.
