When initiative status will change to Active?

Hi Expert

I am creating a Initiative My Client Group> Learning and Development> Learning Assignment Profiles but status is remaining in NEW. how it will change to Active.
Because in New status if i am cancelling status then also status is remaining in NEW it should be MODIFIED. I guess from ACTIVE it will Change to MODIFIED on cancellation.

Which process need to run here and how it needs to be schedule so on creation on record it will run automatically?
